Allstate arm writing new policies

6:30 P.M. — Castle Key Insurance Cos. plans to write 50,000 additional homeowners and renters insurance policies in Florida through 2011, the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation said Wednesday.

The policies, which will be written on property throughout the state, may include policies now held by Citizens Property Insurance Corp., the state-run insurer.

Castle Key Insurance Co. and Castle Key Indemnity Co. are subsidiary companies of Allstate Insurance Co. and were formerly known as Allstate Floridian.

Spokeswoman Amy Moore said new policies already are being written, but any policies to be taken out of Citizens wouldn’t be taken until January 2011.
