AT&T Plans to Discontinue Phone Book Deliveries

Posted By: Taren Reed

JACKSONVILLE, FL — Many residents throw away phone books, now one phone company says it plans to discontinue its delivery.

Officials say Jacksonville is included in a trial area that will no longer have the white pages delivered to them. AT&T says they are finding that a lot of people are not using the phone book anymore, so they are discontinuing it in trial areas.

Those other areas are Miami, West Palm and central Florida.

The Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) says the trial will last for two years. Once the two-year period ends, the PSC says customer feedback will determine whether the rule waiver should be continued or revoked.

The commission says the yellow page directory and residential listings will be available online.

If you would like to request a free printed directory, call 1-800-422-1955.

Customers should expect the trial delivery discontinuation to begin within the next two months.
