PSC Workshop on Hurricane Preparedness Set for Wednesday

TALLAHASSEE — Florida’s Public Service Commission (PSC) will hold a workshop on Wednesday, May 6, 2009, to review the status of hurricane preparedness for the state’s electric utilities and major telephone companies. The annual workshop guarantees all appropriate actions have been taken to protect the electric transmission and distribution facilities in the state from the impact of severe weather.

Each utility will present its current preparation status for protecting its facilities from extreme weather events. Preparation categories include facility inspections; maintenance and repairs; coordination with other utilities, government, and community groups; and other storm-hardening measures. The presentations will also address unfinished work and identify specific areas of concern.
