Governor DeSantis Names Blaise Ingoglia as CFO

Governor Ron DeSantis has appointed state Senator Blaise Ingoglia as Florida’s Chief Financial Officer. Ingoglia succeeds Jimmy Patronis, who resigned to pursue his successful bid for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

With Ingoglia’s appointment, the state’s Cabinet offices are again complete. Governor DeSantis previously appointed James Uthmeier to follow Ashley Moody as Attorney General when Moody was named to the U.S. Senate. Wilton Simpson remains the Commissioner of Agriculture–  a position he won in the 2022 election cycle.

Governor DeSantis praised Ingoglia as a conservative senator who will provide leadership in key areas such as immigration, eliminating property taxes and fostering stability and accountability in the insurance market. Ingoglia added that his early goals also will include addressing housing affordability and local government spending.

Ingoglia’s appointment likely will lead to primary battle in 2026. Senator Joe Gruters, also a Republican, announced several months ago that he intends to run for the position. Gruters has the endorsement of President Donald Trump.

CFO Ingoglia was elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 2014. He won election to the Florida Senate in 2022. He served as chairman of the Republican Party of Florida from 2015 to 2019, which encompassed Governor DeSantis first campaign for governor. Ingoglia’s appointment will necessitate to special election to replace him in the state Senate.

DeSantis has one more appointment to make–  the Lieutenant Governor position remains vacant after Jeanette Nunez left in February to pursue the presidency of Florida International University.
