Henry Combs Wins 2024 Tallahassee Bar Association Young Lawyers Essay Contest
Henry Combs, son of Radey shareholder Bert Combs, has won the 2024 Tallahassee Bar Association Young Lawyers Essay Contest. The Essay Contest is held annually in connection with a seminar that provides an opportunity for Tallahassee’s young lawyers to teach professional development skills and offer life advice to local high school students. Interested students are invited to write an essay to discuss how these skills will enable them to transition successfully into adulthood. According to the selection committee, Henry’s essay exhibited a thoughtful and analytical grasp of the seminar topics. As a reward for his hard work, Henry will receive $500 and spend a half-day with members of the Tallahassee Bar Association and a local judge later this summer.
A rising sophomore at Leon High School, Henry is an elected member of student government and spends time volunteering with Leon County Teen Court, a criminal diversion program for juveniles where he has already served as a teen lawyer or juror in more than 15 cases. This summer, Henry was accepted to American University’s High School Summer Scholars Program with a focus on learning about the country’s legal system and will also participate in the National Student Leadership Conference, attending a week-long seminar on federal policy and politics at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
