OIR Issues Informational Memorandum After Heavy Rain Event

A substantial rain event in North Florida made national news this week as it caused flooding in many areas, waashing out roads and bringing rising water into many homes and businesses.  Governor Rick Scott issued Executive Order 14-144 declaring a state of emergency in counties extending from the Florida-Alabama state line to the Gainesville area.   The Department of Financial Services announced that its office in Pensacola will be open this weekend to assist consumers.  The Office of Insuance Regulation in informational memorandum OIR-14-03 advised property and casualty insurers to ensure they have sufficient adjusters available to respond to claims and to inform the Department of Financial Services if they set up disaster response locations in the area.
