Rebecca Matthews Named OIR Chief of Staff While Monte Stevens Becomes Deputy

Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty announced that Rebecca Matthews has been appointed as the Office of Insurance Regulation’s Chief of Staff.  She has been serving as interim Chief of Staff since Audrey Brown’s departure in earlier this year.  Ms. Matthews has been with the OIR since 2008.  During her time with the agency, she has been involved in legislative and cabinet affairs, market research and technology and other areas.  Before joining the OIR, she was the legislative affairs director for the Florida Department of Management Services and the Florida Lottery.

Monte Stevens is returning to the Office of Insurance Regulation to serve as Deputy Chief of Staff.  His primary focus will be government affairs.  ​Mr. Stevens led the OIR’s government affairs from 2007 – 2012.  He then went to the Florida Medical Association, where he was the Director of Government Affairs and Public Policy at the Florida Medical Association.
