Insurer to revise practices

DAYTONA BEACH — The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation on Wednesday announced a multimillion dollar settlement agreement with John Hancock Life Insurance Company.

Boston-based John Hancock agreed to pay the state $2.4 million and to revise its business practices in unclaimed property for life insurance products. It also said it will revise its use of the Death Master File, a U.S. Social Security Administration list of everyone who has died.
