Five RTYC Teams “Walk Through Florida”
Twenty employees of Radey Thomas Yon & Clark are competing in “2010 Walking Through Florida,” an eight-week competition promoting physical activity and personal wellness. Sponsored by the University of Florida IFAS Extension Leon County, the program has attracted 86 teams.
The firm’s five teams each consist of four people who have committed to specified amounts of weekly aerobic activity. RTYC has one team competing in the most strenuous category – the “Tour de Florida,” which requires teams to cover 896 miles during the course of the competition. Each team member must commit to at least 60 minutes of aerobic activity every day for eight weeks. A second team, “Strides for Health Living,” has committed to covering 448 miles, which translates into at least 30 minutes of aerobic activity each day. Three other firm teams are competing in the “A Walk in the Park” category. They have each committed to a minimum of 30 minutes of aerobic activity at least four days per week.
The competition began on Monday, March 1, and will end on April 25. Each team member must keep track of his or her daily aerobic activity, which is recorded weekly by team captains on the program sponsor’s website. Activities such as walking, biking, swimming, running, and aerobics all count toward each team member’s daily requirement. RTYC’s participants consist of nine lawyers, two paralegals, the firm’s administrator, five administrative assistants, a receptionist, and two messengers.
