Department of Homeland Security to Hold Employer Symposium

Department of Homeland Security to Hold Employer Symposium

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) recently announced plans to hold a one day symposium entitled “Government and Employers 2009:  Working Together to Ensure a Legal Workforce.”  According to DHS, the talk is intended to cover employment eligibility compliance, the E-Verify federal contractor rule, the future course of worksite enforcement and other topics.  Aside from the nuts-and-bolts of compliance, however, the symposium will also feature high-profile speakers, including DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano.

The symposium is scheduled for November 19, 2009 from 8:30AM until 5:00PM at the Marriott Washington Wardman Park, 2660 Woodley Road, Northwest, Washington DC 20008.  Attendees are asked to RSVP to Nicole Bedard via email (nicole.bedard@associates.dhs.gov) or phone at (202) 328-2000.

The symposium, and other efforts by DHS, continue to remind employers that employment eligibility and verification remain a focus of this administration.
