Wednesday September 30th, 2009
As part of ENERGY STAR’s 2009 “Change the World, Start with ENERGY STAR” campaign, Gulf Power will give customers a free compact fluorescent light bulb (CFL) when they complete a free online Energy Check-Up for their home during the month of October.
To participate, customers can visit www.gulfpower.com, and on the home page mouse over and click the large icon named “Energy Check-Up.” Customers will receive specific recommendations about energy efficiency, home improvements and steps to improve energy efficiency that can help them cut electricity bills by as much as 50 percent. When customers complete the online inspection they’ll be mailed a voucher for a free CFL that can be picked up at most Gulf Power offices.
CFL FACTOID:
If every American home replaced just one light bulb with CFL bulb, it would save enough energy to light more than 3 million homes for a year and prevent greenhouse gases equivalent to the emissions of more than 800,000 cars. CFL bulbs use 75 percent less energy than standard incandescent bulbs and last as much as 10 times longer.
