Christopher Lunny Presenting Speaker in Palm Beach County
Shareholder Christopher Lunny spoke at the September 25, 2009 annual meeting of the Club Spa and Fitness Association. Founded in 2007, the CSFA has numerous members throughout Florida and the United States. Mr. Lunny was part of a round table discussion entitled Staffing & the Law: Employee vs. Independent Contractor Status. Mr. Mitchell Stump, a former IRS revenue agent and author of Club Tax Book, was the other roundtable speaker.
Mr. Lunny and Mr. Stump discussed the emerging legal and tax issues present in the treatment of club and spa employees, with a particular focus on their status as independent contractors or employees. The discussion focused on the different legal tests involved for the different contexts and the pros and cons of each model. Time was also set aside for audience questions.
As one of the founding shareholders of RTYC, Mr. Lunny’s practice focuses upon labor and employment law. Mr. Lunny is AV rated by Martindale-Hubbell and, for the last four consecutive years, he has been named to Florida Trend’s Legal Elite list of outstanding Florida lawyers. Previously, Mr. Lunny was a presenting speaker at the World Convention of the Club Manager’s Association of America in New Orleans, Louisiana. He regularly trains, counsels, and defends employers on labor and employment law concerns.
