TALLAHASSEE — Florida’s Public Service Commission (PSC) will hold a workshop on Wednesday, August 19, 2009, to discuss the 10-year site plans of Florida’s 11 largest electric generating utilities. The workshop provides an opportunity for public comment on the 10-year site plans submitted by Florida’s electric utilities.

Each plan estimates the utility’s power generating needs and the general location of proposed power plant sites over the 10-year planning horizon. In addition, the Florida Reliability Coordinating Council will present the Peninsular Florida Regional Load and Resource Plan concerning the state’s transmission needs.

The workshop is set for the following time and location:

Wednesday, August 19, 2009
9:30 a.m.
Betty Easley Conference Center
Joseph P. Cresse Hearing Room (Room 148)
4075 Esplanade Way

The PSC is committed to making sure that Florida’s consumers receive their electric, natural gas, telephone, water, and wastewater services in a safe, affordable, and reliable manner. The PSC exercises regulatory authority over utilities in the areas of rate base/economic regulation; competitive market oversight; and monitoring of safety, reliability, and service.
