Jacksonville voters will choose a successor to the late Sen. Jim King next month.
Gov. Charlie Crist on Wednesday scheduled Sept. 15 as the date for a special election.
Voters will pick between four Republican candidates since no Democrat has filed for the race.
State Rep. Aaron Bean of Fernandina Beach, Jacksonville city councilman Art Graham, conservative Jacksonville businessman Dan Quiggle and lobbyist John Thrasher, a former House speaker, are the GOP hopefuls.
King died last month from cancer with one more year left on his term before the state’s elections laws would have forced him out of his Senate seat. King, 69, spent 23 years in the Florida Legislature.
