TALLAHASSEE — The Florida Public Service Commission (PSC) will conduct a customer service hearing on Thursday, July 30, 2009, for customers of Progress Energy Florida, Inc. (Progress). In March, Progress filed a petition with the PSC for an increase to its base rates.
This month, a 1,000 kwh monthly bill for residential customers is $122.79. Using Progress’ proposal, a typical 1,000 kwh monthly bill for residential customers would increase to $135.79 in 2010. Progress provides electric service to approximately 1.6 million retail customers in 35 Florida counties.
The hearing allows customers to comment on the proposed rates and any quality-of-service issues relevant to the utility. Customers are invited to attend the hearing at the following time and location:
Thursday, July 30, 2009
1:00 p.m.
Apalachicola Community Center
1 Bay Drive
