Hearing Set for FPL Pipeline Proposal

TALLAHASSEE — Florida’s Public Service Commission (PSC) will conduct a determination of need hearing beginning Monday, July 27, 2009, to consider Florida Power & Light’s (FPL) proposal to construct a 280-mile natural gas pipeline (Florida EnergySecure Line) from Bradford County to near Indiantown in Martin County.
If FPL’s Florida EnergySecure Line is approved, the new pipeline would be in service by January 2014. The pipeline would add a third natural gas supply pipeline in the state.
At the hearing, all parties will have the opportunity to present testimony and other evidence concerning the proposed pipeline. The hearing is set for the following time and location:
Monday, July 27 – Tuesday, July 28, 2009

Environmental impacts and other issues related to the proposed pipeline will be considered by other agencies.
