Fla. Lt. Gov. Kottkamp to run for attorney general
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Florida Lt. Gov. Jeff Kottkamp will run for state attorney general in the 2010 election.
Kottkamp says he plans to file papers to start his campaign on Monday. He will become the first major Republican to enter the race.
Kottkamp served in the state House from 2000 until being elected lieutenant governor in 2006. He was previously a partner in one of the state’s largest personal injury law firms, Morgan & Morgan.
As lieutenant governor, Kottkamp has worked with the Legislature to help pass Gov. Charlie Crist’s agenda. He has chaired the Children and Youth Cabinet and has oversight of the Office of Drug Control and Office of Adoption and Child Protection.
He’s also chairman of the board for Space Florida and the Florida Sports Foundation.
