The Florida Public Service Commission has scheduled a series of public hearings in the bay area in July to discuss Progress Energy’s proposed increase in base rates in 2010.
The PSC in May approved two interim rate changes that raised the average Progress customer’s bill by about $5 a month.
Area hearings are slated for: 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. July 8 at the Spartan Manor, 6121 Massachusetts Ave., in New Port Richey; 9 a.m. to noon July 16 at St. Petersburg City Council Chambers in City Hall, 175 5th St. North, St. Petersburg; 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., July 16, Pinellas County Commissioners Assembly Room, 315 Court St., Clearwater; and 9 a.m. to noon, July 17, Citrus County Auditorium, 3610 S. Florida Ave., Inverness.
The PSC is expected to rule on the request following a full rate hearing in September.
