Florida Power & Light says it wants to reduce residential customer bills by nearly $5 a month beginning Jan. 1, 2010.
The company filed a proposal with the Florida Public Service Commission that would reduce residential customers’ bills from $109.55 to an estimated $104.63 per 1,000 kilowatt hours.
Florida Power & Light said it would be able to make the reduction because of declining fuel costs based on the Feb. 9, 2009, fuel price projections for 2010.
Florida Power & Light is the state’s largest electric utility, and the second-largest provider of power in Central Florida.
