Florida insurance regulator says assignment of benefits abuse is getting worse
In the midst of an ongoing debate in the Florida Legislature about insurance reform, the state’s regulatory agency says that a type of insurance abuse is getting worse.
The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation (FLOIR) issued a report on Monday showing that the frequency of water claims have risen by 44 percent since 2015 with all regions of the state experiencing double-digit increases. In addition, the average severity of water claims has increased by 18 percent, according to the report.
