AT&T ’Giving Program’ to Benefit Florida Education

As part of its continued commitment to advancing education and strengthening communities, AT&T announced a giving program that will help Florida students. From March 2 through June 30, 2009, AT&T will donate a portion of its online, Florida wireless activation fees to the Florida Education Foundation, or FEF.
The proceeds will be used by FEF to advance educational excellence in Florida.
“Supporting education is a major focus for AT&T,” said Marshall Criser, III, AT&T Florida president. “This program is another example of our commitment to help students succeed. It also provides Florida residents with an opportunity to invest in our children’s future.”
For those who choose to take part in the program, AT&T will donate $18 per new postpaid customer activation with a two-year service agreement to the Florida Education Foundation at no extra charge to the customer.
The Florida Education Foundation is a nonprofit organization that directly supports the Florida Department of Education. The Foundation promotes and encourages academic excellence for pre-kindergarten through 12th grade students in Florida, while recognizing outstanding teachers and educational contributors. The Foundation also partners with business organizations to advance statewide educational initiatives.
“The challenging economic times have required us to look for alternative ways to fund educational programs,” said Commissioner of Education Dr. Eric J. Smith. “We’re excited to be working with the Florida Education Foundation and AT&T. It’s a great way for Florida residents to support our efforts to ensure educational advancement is possible.”
