The essence of Tom Crabb’s practice is helping regulated companies do business in Florida.  He focuses on commercial litigation and corporate law, as well as insurance regulatory law and related administrative practice.  Tom has represented clients in state and federal court, and before the Division of Administrative Hearings, Florida Office of Insurance Regulation, and other Florida state agencies.  

Tom’s corporate law experience includes both transactional and litigation matters.  Among many other things, he has helped clients form new entities, issue and transfer stock, and amend their organizational and governance documents.  Moreover, he has assisted companies with the numerous and varied issues that arise in the operation of their businesses, from contractual matters, privacy and recordkeeping requirements, to employee matters.  When litigation is required to enforce or defend the rights of his clients, Tom has experience in all phases of civil litigation from initial pleadings through discovery, motion practice, and trial. 

Tom has advised clients on a variety of significant insurance regulatory matters including obtaining a certificate of authority to transact insurance in Florida, form and rate approval, formation and licensure of managing general agents and other affiliated entities within an insurance holding company system, as well as producer licensing and appointment.  Tom has helped both insurance companies and producers expand their business to other states.  Tom has guided a discount medical plan organization from the initial planning stages through licensure and final form and rate approval by the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation.  Tom has assisted viatical settlement providers and prepaid limited health service organizations among other such specialty companies.  

At the Florida State University College of Law, Tom graduated in the top five percent of his class, wrote the highest-scoring appellate brief of all first-year students, received numerous book awards, and was a member of the College of Law Moot Court Team.  Before going to law school, Tom owned an office equipment dealership in Clearwater, Florida, an experience that gives him a real world perspective on the opportunities available in the Florida market and the unique challenges companies face in doing business here.  Tom is an active member of the Tallahassee community and an avid golfer.
